Think Tank
We know that some of the best professional development comes from colleagues, and our Think Tanks are the perfect example. It’s a day to roll up our sleeves, get hands-on with new technologies, and contribute your expertise to a larger community. The insights and materials generated at these sessions directly influence our conferences, workshops, and advocacy work with the Ministry of Education.
If you’re looking for a way to make your voice heard and contribute to the evolution of Business Studies, our Think Tanks are the place to be.
OBEA THINK TANK 2025
August 13, 2025
It’s fantastic to see the passion and commitment of our Business Studies educators at the recent OBEA Think Tank!
It was a day filled with incredible collaboration and innovation, and I hope everyone left feeling inspired. From our guest speaker, Corey Gill, to the hands-on AI Show & Tell and the Curriculum Design Sprint, it was a true testament to the power of our community.
We are so grateful for everyone who attended and shared their expertise. This kind of collaborative energy is what makes OBEA the only organization representing Business teachers at the provincial level. It’s how we ensure we’re all equipped with the latest tools and ideas to help our students succeed.
The conversations and ideas generated at events like this are the heart of what we do. They directly inform our professional development, our advocacy work with the Ministry of Education, and the resources we create for you.
GUEST SPEAKER – Corey Gill
AI is not a future concept – it’s here! Embedded in our classrooms and shaping the world our students will lead. As educators, we have a choice: we can react to it, or we can lead it. Intentional AI is about choosing leadership. It’s about using AI ourselves, and teaching students not just how to use it, but how to use it well – with ethics, creativity, and critical thought. Let’s face the facts:
- AI is already in our classrooms and in our students’ futures.
- We’re not just teaching students anymore. We’re helping use an intelligence that is shaping their future.
- AI learns like a child – watching, mimicking, remembering.
- If we don’t teach it intentionally, it still learns. Do we want it to learn the wrong lessons?
- Intentional AI means ethical, critical, and creative use.
- AI is just a tool. Like with all tools, our intent gives it power. When we use it thoughtfully, we shape something extraordinary.
- Intentional teaching works.
- When we design learning around collaboration, reflection, and flexible modalities, student engagement, meaningful learning, and success soar!
Remember, AI reflects us, and we are empowered to choose what we show it. When we teach with intention, we don’t just prepare students for the future – we help shape it.
